sole scaldaci (sun warm us)
"Misunderstanding of the present grows fatally from ignorance of the past."
(March Bloch)

The work "Sole scaldaci" was made in the summer of 2022.
The technique used is the cyanotype, where the sun is the key element in making the image and represents, here, a point of view from above - a gaze that sees everything.
It depicts the silhouettes of two human beings, in their natural dimensions. In this work I explore the theme of the possibility of confrontation.
The photograph was taken inside the former Druso barracks in Silandro,
one of the buildings-symbols of the fascist period.
In South Tyrol, after more than a hundred years, the past is still present and still creates divisions. There is still not one community, but several distinct communities, by culture, language, traditions, roots. Fascist monuments, in these latitudes, can become powder kegs.
"Sole scaldaci" is an invitation to experience conflict with the other by keeping it in a human, intimate and empathic dimension, where we can continue to respect and love each other - moved by a desire for creation rather than destruction.
Sunlight, illuminating shadows, dissolves them.
